YouTube post preview
See the post in YouTube's own chrome before you publish it. Nothing you type or attach leaves your browser.
I read every changelog Figma shipped in 2026 so you do not have to
Nothing you type or attach leaves this tab - no upload, no account, no server.
YouTube can't publish without a video.
Counted in Unicode code points: one plain character is one, and a link costs its full length.
What YouTube hides, and where
Under a video YouTube shows the title in full and about three lines of the description, then "...more". On a phone that collapsed block is a single line plus the view count. The first 120 characters or so of the description are what search snippets and the collapsed box both draw from, so the description has to open with the thing the title did not have room to say.
Three posts YouTube only half shows
- The description that opens with linksSocial links and a subscribe line, then the summary. The visible three lines are housekeeping. The summary that would win the click, and the search snippet, are both below the fold.
- A Short that is not a ShortA 3 minute 20 second vertical video.Published as a normal video. A Short is 3 minutes or less and 9:16, and twenty seconds decides which shelf it lands on.
- An upload left on the defaultA video published without a privacy choice.Public immediately. Unlike TikTok, the default here is visible to everyone - unlisted or private has to be asked for.
Only on YouTube
- The title is a separate required field, 100 characters, distinct from the 5,000-character description.
- Community text posts are not available over the API - video and Shorts only.
- A Short is 3 minutes or less in 9:16.
- Each upload costs 100 of a 10,000-unit daily quota, which is about 100 videos a day.
Questions
- Is this YouTube post preview free?
- Yes. There is no login and no upload: it runs entirely in your browser, and nothing you type or attach leaves your device.
- What is the character limit on a YouTube title?
- 100 characters, and it is a separate required field from the 5,000-character description. Search results truncate the title well before 100, so around 60 is the length that survives everywhere it is shown.
- Does the preview match what YouTube actually shows?
- It is the same chrome our studio uses before a post publishes: YouTube's current header layout, action row and media grid, in either of YouTube's themes. Engagement numbers are decorative, as in every scheduler's preview.
- Does YouTube cut the post off in the feed?
- YouTube shows the whole post in the feed - nothing folds, so the 5,000-character limit is the only cut.
- How long can a YouTube post be?
- 5,000 characters. Counted in Unicode code points: one plain character is one, and a link costs its full length.
