What Discord hides, and where

The channel shows every message in full, so there is no see-more to write around. What hides a Discord post is the scroll: a busy server buries an announcement under the conversation that follows it within minutes, and a member who was away sees an unread marker and the newest messages first. The top of the post has to say what it is before anyone scrolls back up to it.

Three posts Discord only half shows

  1. An announcement that leads with @everyone"@everyone big news" followed by the update.It posts as plain text and pings nobody. Our webhook allows only user mentions, so a server-wide ping never fires by accident.
  2. A link to the blog postTwo sentences and the article URL.Discord unfurls the link into an embed with the article's own title and image, which can be larger than your two sentences above it.
  3. Formatting from a docA message using # headings, **bold** and - bullets.It renders. Discord reads markdown in the channel, so headings and lists come out formatted instead of as the raw symbols most feeds show.
