TikTok post preview
See the post in TikTok's own chrome before you publish it. Nothing you type or attach leaves your browser.
Nothing you type or attach leaves this tab - no upload, no account, no server.
TikTok can't publish without a video.
Counted in Unicode code points: one plain character is one, and a link costs its full length.
What TikTok hides, and where
A caption sits over the bottom of the playing video, one line deep, with the rest behind a tap. Nothing about that is a character count: it is the space left between the video and the action rail. Whatever is in the first line is what a scrolling viewer reads, and the tap to expand competes with a swipe to the next video.
Three posts TikTok only half shows
- The hook buried in sentence twoA setup line, then the payoff.Only the setup shows over the video. On TikTok the caption's first line does the job a headline does everywhere else.
- Publishing without a visibility choiceAn upload with no privacy level set.It lands private. TikTok requires the creator's explicit choice, and without one the video falls back to self-only - it looks published and nobody can see it.
- A photo carouselSix stills instead of a video. Not this flow. The Direct Post API we publish through takes one video; photo posts are a separate flow we do not build on.
Only on TikTok
- One video per post through the Content Posting API - photo carousels are a separate flow we do not use.
- The caption becomes the post's title field, not a separate description.
- A visibility choice is mandatory; without one the upload defaults to private.
- Video uploads are chunked: 5 MB minimum chunk, 64 MB maximum, up to 4 GB total.
Questions
- Is this TikTok post preview free?
- Yes. There is no login and no upload: it runs entirely in your browser, and nothing you type or attach leaves your device.
- How long should a TikTok caption actually be?
- The field takes 2,200 characters and the screen shows about one line over the playing video. Anything past that first line is behind a tap that competes with a swipe, so the working length is a sentence - the rest of the 2,200 is room for tags, not for writing.
- Does the preview match what TikTok actually shows?
- It is the same chrome our studio uses before a post publishes: TikTok's current header layout, action row and media grid, in either of TikTok's themes. Engagement numbers are decorative, as in every scheduler's preview.
- Does TikTok cut the post off in the feed?
- TikTok shows the whole post in the feed - nothing folds, so the 2,200-character limit is the only cut.
- How long can a TikTok post be?
- 2,200 characters. Counted in Unicode code points: one plain character is one, and a link costs its full length.

We built these because our own agents count against exactly these limits before they publish. Let them write the post too.
