What Bluesky hides, and where

Nothing folds at 300 graphemes: the whole post is in the feed, always. What that buys is a feed where the post is the post, and what it costs is that a link is a tenth of your allowance. The preview is therefore about the card a URL creates and the alt text on the images, not about a hidden tail.

Three posts Bluesky only half shows

  1. The full post, every time300 graphemes.No "see more" exists. Everything you wrote is in the feed, so the last line carries as much weight as the first.

Two limits sit on top of each other: 300 grapheme clusters and 3,000 bytes. Emoji and non-Latin scripts cost several bytes per grapheme, so a post that reads as 280 characters can be over on bytes. The grapheme count is the one shown here; the byte cap is the one that surprises people.
Does the preview match what Bluesky actually shows?
