The best free social media schedulers in 2026
25 tools, read from their own pages this month, sorted by what you can do for nothing. The column nobody else publishes is the second one: whether your own AI agent can drive the free plan.
"Free" means four different things in this category, and the difference is the whole question. 12 of the 26 rows below have a plan that never ends; free if you host it applies to exactly one, and it is the one with no cap at all.
How we read them
- Every fact below was read from the vendor's own pricing or documentation page, on the date printed under it. Nothing comes from a review site and nothing is inferred.
- Where a page does not publish a fact, the row says so. FeedHive's agentic tier is the clearest case: three passes over its client-rendered checkmark grid disagreed, so we quote no tier for it.
- The order is what you can do for nothing, not preference. Free-forever plans with agent access first, then free-forever without, then $0 self-host, then anything that needs a card on day one.
- We are one row in the list, not the top of it. Buffer's free plan is more generous than ours on channels, Typefully writes threads better, and Postiz self-hosted costs nothing at all.

The only plan here where the credits also pay for making the post - a carousel or a narrated short - rather than only sending one. $5 a month is a small budget and we say so; it is a few written posts or one designed carousel, not a week of video.

The closest thing to a free agent-native scheduler besides us, and better than us at writing threads. Ten posts a month is the wall, and it publishes to X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Threads and Mastodon only.

Plumbing, not a scheduler. There is no queue, no calendar and no per-network formatting: a schedule means a Schedule by Zapier trigger burning a task each run, so 100 tasks is about three posts a day before it stops.

The other free-forever plan with API and MCP genuinely on it. The wall is real: 15 posts a month, 3 accounts, and X is paid only, so an agent that posts daily dies on day 15.

Not a scheduler at all. It belongs in this table because it keeps turning up in searches for free LinkedIn MCP, and the answer is that it reads LinkedIn rather than posts to it.

- No. Neither the pricing page nor the Content Scheduler help pages mention an API, an MCP server or a CLI. It is a product for hands.

- Adobe Express Premium $9.99 a month (3 accounts per network). Teams $4.99 per licence the first year, then $7.99.
By raw numbers the most generous free scheduler here: 1,000 posts a month, free forever, a real design tool attached. Also the least agent-reachable, and one account per network, so never two Instagram profiles.

The honest $0 answer for anyone willing to run a container: full API, full MCP, 30-plus networks, no cap. The price is that you now operate a service, keep tokens alive and handle every platform's app review yourself.

- Which free social media scheduler is actually the best in 2026?
- For most people, Buffer. Its free plan is 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel with no card, its own page says MCP access is included on every plan including Free, and it has been doing this for fifteen years. Typefully is the better answer if you write threads and live on X, Bluesky, LinkedIn and Threads; its free card lists agents, API and MCP, capped at 10 posts a month. Postiz is the answer if you will run a container, because AGPL-3.0 self-hosting costs nothing and caps nothing.
- Which free plans let an AI agent post for me?
- Buffer (MCP on every plan including Free, plus an API key with 3,000 requests a month), Typefully (agents, API and MCP on the free card, 10 posts a month), zernio (first 2 accounts free with a hosted MCP and REST API), Zapier (MCP on Free, drawing on the 100-task monthly quota), and us. Publer's free plan has no API at all, and Blotato's trial explicitly excludes it.
- What is the difference between free forever and a free trial here?
- Money, eventually. Buffer, Typefully, Publer, zernio, Zapier, sociality.io, Apify and Shapeless have a plan that never ends. Blotato, ContentStudio, FeedHive, Hypefury, Later, SocialBee, Taplio, opentweet and Postiz hosted give you 7 to 14 days. sociality.io is the trap in the middle: a free Starter tier whose 1,000 credits are one-time, not monthly.
- Is a free scheduler enough?
- If the content already exists, usually yes, and you should take the free plan rather than pay for one. Free schedulers stop being enough when nobody has written, designed or filmed anything this week - every tool in this list schedules what you made, except the handful that also write, and fewer still that make the image or the video.
- Where does Shapeless sit in this list?
- One row among the eighteen. Our free plan is 10 posts a day across every network you connect with agent access on the same plan, plus $5 of credits a month for making the post rather than only sending it. That last part is what we have not found elsewhere for free; on raw scheduling generosity Buffer beats us, and we say so in its row.
