Blotato
Shapeless vs Blotato
The agent-first publishing layer. A hosted MCP server and a REST API with a studio attached, sold to people who already run agents. Below is every row we could read from their own pricing page, the places they beat us, and the one question that actually decides it.
You already have an agent, a workflow in n8n, or a script that decides what to post, and you want a reliable pipe to push it out of. Blotato is the best-built pipe in this list.
You want the deciding done too - what to say this week, and why anyone would read it.
Side by side
Our column comes from the same pricing table our pricing page renders, so it cannot drift. Their column was read from blotato.com/pricing on 2026-09-06. A fact their page does not publish says so instead of guessing.
| What | Shapeless | Blotato |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $35/month for the whole product, one workspace, no per-channel or per-seat multiplier. | $29/month (Starter), flat, unlimited posts, 20 accounts. Annual saves about 17%. |
| Top self-serve plan | $200/month. Same product as the $35 plan - the tier only changes how much you make. | $499/month (Agency). No custom tier published. |
| Free tier or trial | $5 of real credit on sign-in, no card. It renders actual posts rather than showing you a tour. | No free plan. A 7-day trial covering everything except API access. |
| Publishes to | LinkedIn, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Threads, Reddit, Bluesky and Mastodon, plus LinkedIn Pages. | X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky and Pinterest. |
| Writes the post | Yes, grounded in the research below rather than in a blank prompt. | Yes, unlimited AI writing on every plan. |
| Designs the image or carousel | Yes. Images and PDF carousels designed per brand - palette, layout, type. No templates. | Image generation is credit-metered. Multi-slide carousel design is not a published feature. |
| Makes the video | Yes. Narrated short video with script, voice, footage, captions and score, built for the post it belongs to. | Yes. AI avatar video with generated B-roll, and faceless video, both drawn from the same credit pool. |
| Researches what wins first | Yes. This is the part we exist for: agents read what is winning in your market this week, then write from it. | No. It is a pipe with generation attached: it will publish anything, and it does not decide what is worth publishing. |
| Scheduling | Yes. Approve each post, or let the agents plan, draft and publish the week. | Yes: queue, next-open-slot fill and recurring weekly slots per account. |
| Analytics | Per-post metrics on what we published, swept back automatically. No social listening - we do not pretend to have it. | Yes, but only for X, Instagram, Facebook, Threads and Bluesky - TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn and Pinterest are not covered. |
| Your own agents can drive it | Yes to all three: a REST API, a published CLI, and a hosted MCP server - on every plan, not as an upgrade. | Hosted MCP server, public REST API (backend.blotato.com/v2), official n8n and Make nodes. No CLI. |
| Company | Early stage, founder-run. We do not publish revenue or headcount, and you should not credit a number nobody has published. | Not published. The founder's own reach - 3M followers, 500M views - is the number the site puts forward. |

Where Blotato wins
A comparison page that finds nothing good to say about the other product is an advertisement. These are the reasons to buy theirs.
- $29 flat for 20 accounts against our $35 for one workspace: cheaper per account than us at any scale.
- Official n8n and Make nodes, which we do not have. If your automation already lives there, Blotato drops in.
- Pinterest, which we do not publish to.
- Credits are unmetered for text - unlimited AI writing on every plan, where our monthly pool covers everything together.
Where we win
- Research before writing. Blotato generates on request; our agents decide what to make from what is measurably working in your market.
- Designed carousels and bespoke image design, not just generated pictures.
- Analytics across every network we publish to. Blotato's stop at five of its nine.
- A CLI as well as API and MCP, and a studio built to be the primary interface rather than a companion to your automation.
Questions
- Blotato has an MCP server. Do you?
- Yes, hosted, on every plan, plus a REST API and a CLI. The difference is not the protocol, it is what is on the other end of it: Blotato's MCP takes a post you have already decided on and publishes it; ours can be asked to research a market, plan a week, produce the media and publish it.
- Is Blotato cheaper?
- Per account, clearly: $29 a month for 20 accounts, flat, against our $35 for one workspace. If you measure by accounts connected, Blotato wins outright. If you measure by finished posts you did not have to think of, the comparison is not really about price.
- Does Blotato generate video?
- Yes - AI avatar video with generated B-roll, plus faceless video, metered from the same credit pool as images and voice (1,250 credits a month on Starter, 28,000 on Agency). Ours is narrated short video built for the specific post: script, voice, footage, captions and score.
- Which one should an n8n user pick?
- Blotato, if the n8n workflow is where your content decisions live. Ours, if you would rather not build and maintain that workflow at all. There is no wrong answer here - they are different amounts of DIY.
