# Call any agent tool

Every tool our studio agent holds, called on its own with the same code the agent runs: search the web, read X, news and community pulse, find evidence, stock photos and licensed footage, brand marks, page screenshots and recordings, media probes, music beds, plus every media tool above.

GET /api/tools lists each with its JSON Schema input and price, no key needed. A call holds credit for its budget (default $2, at most $10) and settles at what it really cost.

- `tools_list`: Every tool the Shapeless studio agent holds, callable on its own: generate_image, generate_footage (AI video), edit_footage (edit an uploaded video), render_carousel, render_thumbnail, demo_page, web_search, x_pulse, news_search, find_photo, find_footage, probe_media and more - each with its JSON Schema input and default price. Needs the read scope.
- `tools_run`: Run one tool from tools_list with its input; SPENDS CREDIT (budgetUsd default 2, max 10). Answers the tool's output plus a URL for every file it made; put a media key on posts_create to publish it. Needs the write scope.

Bearer API key with the scope each call names ([auth](https://shapelessai.com/docs/auth), [OpenAPI](https://shapelessai.com/api/openapi.json)).

- `GET /api/tools` (no key): Every agent tool this deployment serves on its own: name, description, JSON Schema input, default price. The same tools the studio agent holds.
- `POST /api/tools/{name}` (write scope): Run one tool: the body is its input (schema on GET /api/tools) plus optional budgetUsd (default 2, max 10). Answers {tool, output, media[{key, url}], chargedUsd}.

## Refusals

| Status | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| 400 | The input does not match the tool's schema; the message names the field. |
| 402 | Not enough credit to hold budgetUsd, or the call costs more than budgetUsd. |
| 404 | No such tool on this deployment. |
| 422 | The tool refused this input; nothing was charged. |
| 502 | The tool failed; nothing was charged. |
